Welcome from the Dean
Welcome to the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo, Canada's most innovative university!
And they don't call us that for nothing! In AHS, we are proud of our traditions and accomplishments. As a faculty committed to enhancing and promoting the health and quality of life of individuals and communities across the lifespan, we pioneered the nation's first undergraduate programs focussed on movement science, health behaviour, and enhancement of health through leisure.
In addition, we offer a wide range of health-related graduate programs in public health, kinesiology, population health, gerontology, and recreation, as well as collaborative doctoral programs in aging, health, and well-being and in work and health.
But we're more than that - the 2,100 students enrolled in this Faculty are centrally involved in the academic, social, and community lives of the university, the region, the country, and the world. Our students are actively engaged in applying their learnings through Waterloo's co-op program, other experiential education opportunities, and study abroad options.
Throughout our site, you'll see how our research faculty and students are building healthy futures. Researchers are influencing smoking policies in over 20 countries as part of the world's first international public health treaty. Others are working to improve dementia care practices throughout long-term care. Students are volunteering their time and skills to deliver community-based exercise programs to those undergoing cancer treatments. Everyone is truly committed to using their expertise to make a difference in the lives of others.
Excited? We are! Excited to be here, in AHS, at Waterloo, influencing the future of health in this country and across the globe. Come join us!
