On February 8, 2014, student teams from Waterloo’s School of Public Health and Health Systems claimed two of the three finalist spots in Round One of the 2014 Case Evaluation Society (CES-CESEF) Case Competition.

Held annually, the competition helps students build skills in evaluating public policies and programs using real examples from public sector. Each team has five hours to complete a case study and produce a written report in response to a request for proposal. This year’s round one competition saw 21 teams and 95 participants from across Canada compete for the opportunity to advance to the finals.

The Waterloo finalists, coached by Anita Myers of Public Health and Health Systems and Jennifer Yessis of Propel, include:

  • IDEAL Consulting - Kristin Brown, Spencer Gooderham, Stephanie Lu, Cassondra McCrory, Sebastian Rios
  • Global Evaluation Solutions - Darly Dash, Nour Hammami, Michael Mackinley, Christine Sheppard, Shilpa Soni

The teams now advance to the final round of the competition at the CES Conference in Ottawa on June 16, 2014.
