Value description: Two awards valued at $4,000 each are presented annually.

Eligibility & selection criteria:

  • Full-time graduate students who are registered in the Faculty of Arts, conducting research in the German language, culture, history, and/or society.
  • Eligible students can apply by submitting a CV and a one-page research project proposal (single-spaced, references can be on a separate sheet). Applicants must also arrange for a letter of support from a UW faculty member.
  • In order to be considered, the above documents should be submitted to WCGS via the online form by March 1. The support letter should be sent by the UW faculty member directly to wcgs@uwaterloo.ca by March 1.
  • Submissions will be adjudicated by the Waterloo Centre for German Studies Executive Committee - a group of German Studies professors - based on the merit of the research project proposal and its contribution to the mandate of the Centre as well as the student's record of graduate study and research.
