The Strong Interest Inventory (SII) is an inventory designed to help you identify your pattern of vocational interests. The SII assesses your interests using 317 different questions to explore your likes and dislikes with regard to occupational fields, school subjects, leisure activities and other categories.
Based on your responses, you will receive feedback indicating which occupational areas appear to be of greatest personal interest to you. You will also receive specific feedback on how your interests compare to the interests of people who actually work in over 100 occupations and who enjoy their work!
The Strong Interest Inventory (SII) is a useful assessment for anyone who is unsure about their future career goals. It can be a useful way to begin the process of career planning or to help you decide between a number of alternatives that you may be considering.
The SII is especially useful for people in the early stages of career planning. The SII will not predict with certainty what occupation you should consider. However, by indicating how similar or dissimilar your interests are in comparison with people in a wide variety of occupations, it can be a useful step towards identifying work settings and occupations that may be satisfying to you. It can also be a useful source of information for educational planning.
It's easy. Just go to the career services reception desk where you will receive more information about the SII. A $10.00 material fee is required at this time. You will receive an information page which includes the website address and a password so that you can then complete the assessment online. After you have completed the SII, you then sign up for the "Career Interest Assessment" feedback workshop online at the Centre for Career Action website.
