WatCAR managing director talks fuel cells on Lang O'Leary Exchange

Ross McKenzie, managing director of the Waterloo Centre for Automotive Research, spoke to Amanda Lang about fuel cell vehicles on CBC's Lang O'Leary Exchange.

He said the fuel problem is not insurmountable, particularly if government and automotive fleets adopt the hydrogen car as a green alternative.

"Hydrogen would be more readily deployed in an urban environment where the infrastructure investment is less, whereas electric cars in a more rural environment, where you just have to plug-in," he said in the interview.

If Toyota can sell the car for under $50,000, it will attract some early adopters. It's likely that electric cars and fuel cell cars will share the road with consumers choosing between them, McKenzie added.
