What is a Don?
Residence Don is a position held by upper-year undergraduate or graduate students. As a Don, you'll live in residence and help to develop a community that is supportive of the academic and personal goals of students. You will be a role model to approximately 50 students, encouraging residence activities and ensuring that residence policy is being followed. This is considered to be one of the most prestigious and rewarding leadership opportunities a student can have.

- I have heard that you can only be a Don if you are available for both the fall and winter terms...is this true? What if I'm in co-op?
-
No, it's not true. Because we have a large group of co-op students living in residence, there are often many floors that turn-over after one term. You will have the opportunity on the application to select which terms you are appyling for, it's really easy!
-
- I am registered at Laurier and pay my tuition there, however, my program also involves taking classes at Waterloo. Am I elegible to become a Don?
-
No. Unfortunately, if you are registered and pay your tuition with Laurier, you are not eligible to be a Don at Waterloo.
-
- I heard that second year students cannot be Dons, is this true? What if I am an engineer?
- No, this is not true. We always encourage second year students to apply! We also currently have several engineering students on staff, and accept all programs.
