Science (Biology and Physical Sciences) Living-Learning Community
The first year Science Living-Learning Community is a community designed for students in the Biology or Physical Sciences programs. These living-learning communities offer students with a unique opportunity to live with their peers and pursue their passion for science.
In addition to living and learning with other students in your program of study, you will have support from your Peer Leader – an upper year Science student who has taken similar courses and can connect you with the people and resources you need to succeed.
Read a student profile and learn what it is like to live in a Living-Learning Community or to be a Peer Leader:
>> Ricky, Physical Sciences student
>> Keith, Physical Sciences Peer Leader
Peer Leaders and planned events
Your Peer Leader will also organize programs that will enhance your in-class learning and further develop skills such as teamwork, communication, problem solving, and critical thinking. Examples of planned living-learning programs include:
- academic enrichment activities such as how to write lab reports
- organized dinners with faculty members and alumni
- study sessions for core courses
- academic information sessions
About Ron Eydt Village
The Science communities will be in Ron Eydt Village, one of our traditional-style residence buildings. At Ron Eydt Village, you’ll be part of a dynamic environment where you can meet up with friends and enjoy delicious stir-fry dinners from the cafeteria, relax by playing some pool or ping pong, work out in the fitness room, or study in quad lounge.
Eligibility
The Science living-learning communities are open to all first-year students entering Biology or Physical Sciences (both regular and co-op) in September 2010.
