On behalf of all our staff in the Department of Housing and Residences, I would like to take this opportunity to let you know that we’re prepared and excited to greet you into your new home!
As part of our planning for the coming terms, we have worked with our health care professionals on campus as well as local public health officials to learn as much as possible about H1N1 influenza, and its potential impact on our residence communities.
We certainly understand your excitement to begin your term and your residence experience. However before you come to campus, we are asking you and each of your fellow students to screen your own health by asking the following questions:
Do I have a fever or cough?
Do I have one or more of the following other symptoms:
If you have answered yes to these questions, we are asking you to delay your arrival on campus and in residence until your fever is gone and you are feeling better. The guidelines provided by the medical community call for self-isolation and bed rest for those who have a flu-like illness. Travel to campus should be delayed until you are no longer contagious to others. Please be assured your room will be held for you. Reply to this email and let us know that you will be arriving after you are well.
Once you arrive and begin your term, our staff living and working in your buildings have been trained by our Health Services team, and are there to do whatever they can to help you. We thank you in advance for taking care and doing your part to keep everyone well.
Sincerely,
Chris Read
University Housing Officer
