Prospective faculty

As the University of Waterloo enters its sixth decade, we are shifting our priorities as we hire new faculty from around the globe to ensure a stellar future for this institution.

"Creator owns it" intellectual property policy

Like a few other universities, we have an intellectual property policy that gives the creator of such property ownership of it. Waterloo, however, lives the spirit of that policy. We tell faculty members, you can do whatever you want to do, provided you are doing your core duties of teaching and research. If you do all those things, and you also have the time and interest to take your new technology to the marketplace, we applaud you for it. This culture makes us unique, and an attractive place for entrepreneurial academics.

We have a dream of taking the University of Waterloo to a level of prominence not seen before: we want to be a truly outstanding university, as judged by our peers.

We are seeking the best talents we can find to come and share in our dream: to seize opportunities, and pursue global excellence.
