KI student presenting at International Conference on the Public Communication of Science and Technology

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Eric Kennedy, fourth-year KI student, will be presenting at the 12th International Conference on the Public Communication of Science and Technology in Florence, Italy, April 18th - 20th.

The PCST conferences are a series of international meetings (in conjunction with electronic communication in between conferences) dedicated to helping improve the communication of science in a world dependent on technological advances and scientific knowledge.

Eric is excited to be able to present his work in the philosophy of science to such a broad and interdisciplinary audience, including scientists, journalists, academics, policy-makers, and others, as well as to have such an opportunity already during his undergrad program. He'll be sharing research connected to his KI senior thesis, which investigates the nature of short-term, project-based collaboration between scientists and Indigenous communities in Canada.

He was also very glad to present some of his other work on the epistemology of collaboration and expertise at the Combining Two Cultures conference held at uWaterloo earlier this year.
