Audition times

Audition sign-up sheets are posted on the bulletin board outside the music office (room 1104 at Conrad Grebel University College) at least two weeks prior to the the start of each term. There are information sheets for each ensemble posted below this bulletin board or see the audition requirements web page. All auditions will take place at Conrad Grebel University College.  If you have questions that are not answered on this website, please contact the University of Waterloo Music Department Administrative Assistant, Claudia Van Decker.

Note: registering for an ensemble on Quest does not mean the director knows you are intending to participate in a given term. You must audition (or if you are not required to audition, then you must notify the director directly, except University Choir).

If you do not pass the audition or are not asked back in the ensemble, you must drop the course on Quest yourself (if you registered in the first place) as this is not automatically done for you.

Choose from 6 ensembles: University Choir, Chamber Choir, Chapel Choir, Instrumental Chamber Ensembles, Stage Band or Vocal Techniques.

First rehearsal

Tuesday May 8, 7-10pm, Rm 1101 &
Monday May 14 & Tuesday May 15, Chapel

Interviews will be about 2 min each, in 10 minute intervals for a group of 4 people. All 4 people should be ready at the beginning of that time interval to wait for your turn, or attend with a friend.
New: all are required (new and returning) to attend a brief vocal interview each term. This will give the director a chance to re-assign section parts and get feedback from the previous term.

*NEW* - Sign up for interviews will be different this term.  A sign up sheet will only be on the on-line version.  The form to fill out will also be on-line.  Please go to all links in the steps provided below. Email the music office for questions or help.

Instrumental Chamber Ensembles

Thursday May 3, 9am-12pm, Rm 1101 (or if necessary, arrange an alternate time with the director, Ben Bolt Martin).

Note: only new participants need to audition each term and all must submit a grid format of their timetable. Returning students are to sign up on the returning members sheet on the bulletin board outside the music office or email the director to indicate their intent to participate (no guarantees) as Quest will not notify the director for you. Timetables can be left in the folder under the sign up bulletin board or emailed to the director.

Once formed, chamber ensembles will meet one hour per week for rehearsal at their mutual convenience and will meet for an additional hour per week for coaching with the director.

 

Stage Band

Not available in Spring term.
