Christine Vlajk received a Bachelor of Music Education and Viola Performance from the University of Colorado/Boulder and a Master of Music in Viola Performance from the University of Wisconsin/Milwaukee. She has studied chamber music with some of the finest teachers and members of the Juilliard, Emerson, Hungarian, Takacs, La Salle and Fine Arts Quartets. She has won top prizes at the Banff International String Quartet Competition, the Evian International String Quartet Competition, the Coleman Chamber Music Competition and the Carmel Chamber Music Competition. She has been the recipient of many prestigious fellowships including the Cincinnati College Conservatory, the Aspen Music Center for Advanced Quartet Studies, the Banff Centre and the Juilliard Quartet Seminar. Ms. Vlajk holds the position of Artist-in-Residence teaching Viola and Chamber Music at Wilfrid Laurier University since 1997. She is a regular Visiting Faculty Member at Indiana University's String Academy and is also a member of the Casalmaggiore International Music Festival Faculty in Italy. Ms. Vlajk is the violist of the internationally renowned Penderecki String Quartet. In the past decade they have performed on stages all around the world, in North and South America, Europe and Asia. Her discography of nearly twenty recordings is distributed on the Koch, Leonarda, Eclectra, Marquis Classics and EMI labels.
