WATERLOO, Ont (Wednesday, June 5, 2013) – Canadian astronomer David H. Levy - one of the most successful comet discoverers in history – will give a public lecture on his experiences and observations in astronomy on Thursday at the University of Waterloo.

The internationally renowned Canadian astronomer and science writer, famous for his 1993 co-discovery of Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 which collided with Jupiter in 1994, will join a star-gazing party following the lecture, weather permitting.

Canadian astronomer David H. Levyis is one of the most successful comet discoverers in history. He has discovered 21 comets, eight of them using his own backyard telescopes. Levy is the author or editor of 34 books and other products. He won an Emmy in 1998 as part of the writing team for the Discovery Channel documentary, “Three minutes to impact.”
