Next steps

Once you have been admitted to the University of Waterloo, be sure to keep updated on the next steps you need to take.

Remember to select "Honours Arts-UW " or "Arts & Business-UW " on the required Admission Information Form (AIF). When filling out this form, be sure to indicate your interest in PACS in your answers to questions 1 and 7, as well as in what you have done beyond regular schooling in questions 2 to 4.

Choosing courses in the first year

The Faculty of Arts at the University of Waterloo considers a student's first year to be a foundational year where students explore a breadth of material. Even if you have indicated that you are coming to the University of Waterloo to pursue a PACS academic plan, you should be aware that students do not choose their major until they are in their second year.

When you are ready to declare your major, you will be asked to fill out a plan modification form and get it signed by the PACS director.

PACS has reserved a number of spaces for first year students to take an introductory PACS course. If you are interested in a PACS Plan, you are welcome to take one of the following courses in the first or second term of your first year. The courses available to first year students are:

Since PACS is interdisciplinary you also need to take courses from the PACS approved course listings. You can use your first year of study to make sure that you fulfil prerequisites for the courses you would like to take later. For example, most Psychology (PSYCH) courses require that you take "PSYCH 101" first. Other programs and departments may have similar requirements.
