Returning home
As you return home from your exchange, consider the following items.
Transfer credits
Your transfer credits will be assessed once your official transcript from your host university is received. This process may take 2-4 months following the end of your term abroad. Your faculty exchange representative will establish your transfer credits (based on your pre-approved courses). The approved credits will be added to your Waterloo record (Quest) with the designation 'credit', but without any numerical grade.
Debriefing
You may expect to be invited by your Faculty Exchange Representative or Study Abroad Manager to share your exchange experiences via photos, videos, testimonials, presentations, or group discussions as your experiences will be very valuable to future outgoing exchange students. We invite you to complete the Debriefing Form (pdf) and return it to your Study Abroad Manager and Faculty Exchange Representative.
Get involved
Your experience abroad does not have to end here. There are various opportunities for you to get involved with the international community at Waterloo. Consider the following:
- volunteer with the International Student Office
- volunteer with the International Programs office in pre-departure sessions and other activities
- get involved with International Education Week presentations
- share your experiences through pictures, videos, journals, etc.
- continue international-focused studies (e.g. language, cultural, or global issues courses)
