The UWaterloo 16 Days planning committee
acknowledge that we are on the traditional territory
of the Attawandaron (Neutral), Anishinaabeg, and
Haudenosaunee peoples. The University of
Waterloo is situated on the Haldimand Tract,
the land promised to the Six Nations that includes
ten kilometers on each side of the Grand River.
Supporting families to move through birth in an informed, empowered way is a first step in preventing experiences of trauma.
In this 1-hour workshop, midwifery student Spencer Sawyer addresses the challenges inherent to our maternal healthcare system, and concrete ways to move through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum from a lens of empowerment, agency, and self-efficacy. This workshop hones in on ways partners can meaningfully provide support, moving from bystanders to champions of reproductive health and agency.
Refreshments will be provided.
