The UWaterloo 16 Days planning committee
acknowledge that we are on the traditional territory
of the Attawandaron (Neutral), Anishinaabeg, and
Haudenosaunee peoples. The University of
Waterloo is situated on the Haldimand Tract,
the land promised to the Six Nations that includes
ten kilometers on each side of the Grand River.
This year, as part of the University of Waterloo's 16 Days of Activism, the Waterloo Aboriginal Education Centre is hosting a Faceless Dolls Workshop to raise awareness about the crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous girls and women in Canada.
Sponsored by the Native Women's Association of Canada, the hands-on project involves participants creating felt figurines to "carry forward the visual representations of strong and beautiful Aboriginal women who have become 'faceless' victims of crime."
