Not only is gold a University colour, it’s also a handy acronym for 33 per cent of our alumni – Grads of the Last Decade. Of Waterloo’s 188,805 alumni, close to 62,500 have received their degree in the last ten years.
The award winning GOLD on the Go series for young alumni is back, and this year we are making stops in Calgary (October 27, 2016), Waterloo (March 14, 2017), and Toronto (March 16, 2017). Over the three tour dates, GOLD (Grads of the Last Decade) alumni will have the exclusive opportunity to network with each other and hear from our keynote speaker, Linda Thomas (BMath ’90), VP, Financial Planning and Analysis at Shaw Communications who will share her insight, knowledge, and expertise around job seeking strategies, networking, and personal branding.
Linda's talk, titled “The Best UW lesson that was never taught,” focuses on an important skill learned at UW outside the lecture halls that has been instrumental in her career progression and work/life balance. An industry leader and outstanding alumnus, throughout her twenty-year career, Linda has experience in Operations, Sales, Finance, Marketing, Product Management and Research and Development. Prior to her appointment at Shaw Communications, Linda was the VP, Finance and Planning & Business Analysis at SMART Technologies. Additional prior work experience includes time at Molson Coors, General Mills and Proctor & Gamble.
Whether new to a career or an established professional, GOLD alumni are invited to join us at one of our tour stops or online as we broadcast the events live on our Facebook page.
If you have any questions, please contact Melissa Horne, Alumni Officer, Students and Young Alumni.
