Enrolment

Each workshop can include participants who have enrolled simply out of interest as well as participants who are working toward earning a certificate. No particular academic or work experience is required for workshop enrolment.

Cancellations

Participants choosing to cancel their registration for a workshop can receive 100 percent refund if they give notice more than two weeks in advance of the workshop, 50 percent refund if they give notice between one and two weeks in advance of the workshop, and 0 percent refund if they give notice less than one week in advance of the workshop.  If a workshop is cancelled due to weather or other extenuating circumstances, participants can either transfer their fees to another workshop or receive a full refund.

Workshop evaluations

At the end of each workshop, participants will be provided with a workshop evaluation form that asks for both numerical ratings and qualitative comments based on their experience in the workshop. Participants do not need to identify themselves by name. Instructors will be able to review the evaluation forms after the workshop, and evaluation summaries will be held on file for the purposes of program evaluation and long-term planning.

Accessibility

As much as possible, workshops will be offered in such a way as to maximize accessibility. Specific examples include: (1) using wheelchair-accessible facilities whenever possible, and (2) asking participants to identify any other adjustments or learning resources that might be needed based on a specific disability.

Projected enrolment

For the first year, the program aims for 15 to 20 participants enrolled in each workshop. Workshops will not run with less than 10 participants, and some courses will need to establish a maximum number of participants.

Advanced standing

Unlike many academic programs, the Anabaptist Learning Workshop (ALW) is not designed to accommodate routine requests for advanced standing (e.g. for those who have studied extensively in a certain area). However, unusual circumstances sometimes deserve unusual consideration, in which case participants are encouraged to discuss their situation with ALW staff.
