Researchers sometimes have a need for their own server or servers to perform tasks specific to their research. Often, these servers will also be accessed and used by collaborators outside UW.
Once a server or servers has been acquired, Health Computing will install in the server room and perform the setup. The setup includes installing OS and all necessary drivers, adding security, joining to the Active Directory, and installing any other required software.
Setting up Hoover, UW’s backup service, can also be done upon request. Health Computing will also maintain the server or servers with updates, service packs, patches, etc. throughout the lifecycle.
