AHSUM Councilor

AHSUM councilors will take an active role as a class representatives of their respective programs and years e.g. 1st year Kinesiology, 2nd year Health studies, etc. There will be two councilors per year for each program.

This leadership position may serve as a great way to get involved and/or be used as a stepping stone to eventual involvement as an AHSUM executive member.

This position is offered on a termly basis, with a 5-10 hr commitment/week as a minimum. What you get is what you put into it!

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  •  Representing the student body of one year, of one AHS program (e.g. 1styear Kinesiology, 2nd year Health Studies, etc.)
  •  Attending biweekly AHSUM Council meetings
  •  Speaking for the interests of your class on matters discussed at AHSUM Council
  •  Relaying pertinent information about AHSUM and AHSUM affiliate groups to their class
  •  Working in conjunction with your relevant program exec rep concerning any undergraduate issues within their program

Qualifications

  • Ability to work as a contributing member of AHSUM
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to take initiative to get things done and act as a role model

Junior AHSUM Members (Joeys) Program

Junior AHSUM members (Joeys) will take an active role as a mentee to an AHSUM executive Director (DSE, DCSOP, DPRP) to learn respective position duties and responsibilities. This Jr leadership position may serve as a great way to get involved and/or be used as a stepping stone to eventual involvement as an AHSUM executive member.

This position is offered on a termly basis, with a 5-10 hr commitment/week as a minimum. What you get is what you put into it!

Duties are as assigned but are not limited to: supervised office hours, event planning/set up/take down, attending Exec, General, and Faculty meetings

Qualifications

  • Ability to work as a contributing member of AHSUM
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to take initiative to get things done and act as a role model

AHS Fun Run

AHS Fun Run Banner

Join us for the 32nd annual Faculty of Applied Health Sciences (AHS) Fun Run on Saturday, September 30, 2017! The 2.5K/5K Run is the largest and longest-standing Reunion tradition at the University of Waterloo and is open to all ages across the community. We anticipate over 500 alumni, students, staff, faculty, and members of the Waterloo Region to join in the fun! The Run will once again feature Bib Tag technology and results will be posted online as part of an official race in the running community.

Bring a friend as student tickets are now 2 for $15! First 400 registrants will receive a technical race t-shirt and  a 50th anniversary sport water bottle so be sure to register today! *50% of the registration fees will be directed towards UW Fitness' Teens in Motion program.
