Strategic plan 2013-2018

Health transcends borders, spans generations and impacts lives.

In the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences, we are committed to finding new and innovative ways to tackle local and global health challenges. From preventing injury and illness to protecting and promoting health and well-being, our researchers have a long history of working together to improve quality of life for individuals and communities around the world.

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together (African proverb).

Our 2013-2018 strategic plan reflects this spirit of collaboration.

Developed in consultation with key stakeholders – faculty, staff, students, alumni and leaders from both the public and private sectors – the plan lays the foundation for future growth and continued excellence. Under the guidance of Diana Royce of The Deerfield Group, dedicated members of the Strategic Planning Committee volunteered countless hours soliciting input and feedback to articulate a shared vision and priorities that will guide our progress through to 2018.

Working together on our strategic goals will position the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences to realize its vision of being a global leader in protecting and promoting individual and community health and well-being, preventing illness and injury and optimizing abilities across the life course for all. It will also frame the manner in which the Faculty contributes to the University of Waterloo’s stated goals of world leadership in research on water and aging.

It is not just our vision to become a global leader in health and well-being; as citizens in an increasingly interconnected world, it is our responsibility and commitment.
