Releasing final grades
IMPORTANT - According to Policy 46 – Information Management, “Final examination and final course grades shall not be posted before the final examination period ends.” Check the Important dates webpage for the last day of examinations for a particular term. QUEST will not release any grades until after the exam period is over. Note - this policy applies to graduate courses as well.
Final grades in LEARN
The Final Calculated Grade and Final Adjusted Grade columns in the LEARN Gradebook are not visible to students in LEARN, so you don't have to worry about releasing them accidentally. To check what a student sees, enter some grades in for the Test Student and then impersonate the Test Student and click on Grades.
Instructions for impersonating a test student:
- Select the CONNECT tab
- Select CLASSLIST from the dropdown menu
- Select the TEST STUDENT tab
- Select the BLACK drop down arrow beside the test student
- Choose IMPERSONATE
- Select OK (to enter the student view)
To exit the impersonate view, select the x in the top right corner beside the test student profile name.
Final grade calculation
If you are using LEARN to calculate your final grades, I recommend verifying that your gradebook is set up to calculate grades as you expect. You can do this by manually checking the calculation for one or two students. If you would like any help with this, please feel free to contact me.
Exporting final grades from LEARN in QUEST friendly format
You can export final grades from LEARN in a QUEST-friendly format (Grades > Enter Grades > Export Adjusted Final Grades for QUEST) to make uploading to QUEST easier. Here are detailed instructions for calculating final grades in LEARN.
Uploading final grades to QUEST
You will need to upload your final grades to QUEST. You can upload final grades to QUEST whenever you like because QUEST will not release any grades until after the exam period is over. Information about how to export final grades from LEARN is provided at the How do I upload my final grades?, or contact your Departmental Administrator about uploading final grades to QUEST.
