Applied Health Sciences convocationExport this event to calendar

Tuesday, June 11, 2013 — 10:00 AM EDT

Convocation is a special time for our graduates to celebrate their achievements with family and friends.

This spring's convocation is particularly exciting as it's the first time that Faculty of Applied Health Sciences (AHS) graduands have their own ceremony vs. hosting convocation in conjunction with our sister faculties.

AHS graduands are invited to a special celebratory breakfast at 8:30 a.m. in B.C. Matthews Hall, with convocation ceremonies beginning in the Physical Activities Complex (PAC) at 10 a.m.

Graduands should pick up their graduation gown and lineup/name card before the pre-convocation breakfast. Details are available on the convocation website.

Valedictorian Kinshuk Kumar will address convocation at the ceremony, as will Dr. Jean Chamberlain Froese who will receive an honorary doctor of laws.

Froese is an associate professor in obstetrics and gynecology, director of the International Women’s Health Program, and founder and executive director of Save the Mothers, an international organization she helped found in 2005. She advocates tirelessly for the rights of women and children and has dedicated her career to the interconnection of health, social justice and the recognition of maternal health as a basic human right.

Other honours to be presented include the Applied Health Sciences Alumni Achievement Award (Alyson Woloshyn, BA ’00 – Recreation and Leisure Studies) and Young Alumni Award (Adil Bhatti, BSc ’05 – Kinesiology).
