Quit-It: New perspectives on youth cessation from NDIT

Thursday, May 24, 2012 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Dr. Jennifer O’Loughlin, Ph.D.

Université de Montréal

This presentation will overview what we have learned about youth cessation to date from the 13-year Nicotine Dependence in Teens (NDIT) cohort investigation.

The talk will begin with results from our systematic reviews on the frequency of quit attempts, the determinants of cessation, and the results of randomized controlled trials testing youth cessation interventions. It will then overview our work of the natural history of cessation in youth.

Finally it will feature not-yet published NDIT data on reasons to quit in adolescents; on genetic predisposition to cessation; and finally on a comprehensive socio-ecologic study of the determinants of youth cessation.

There will be an opportunity to ask general questions of Dr. O‘Loughlin from 4:45-5:00 p.m. in LHN 2703, following the presentation.

All are welcome
