While contemplating career options during her final year of undergraduate studies, Kinesiology student Jenna Johnson's (pictured far right) future began to unveil itself. After applying for a Hallman Undergraduate Research Fellowship, Jenna was delighted to be granted the opportunity to collaborate with her mentor, Professor Lora Giangregorio, a UWaterloo Kinesiology professor specializing in bone and joint health.

With the financial support of the Fellowship, Jenna worked with Professor Giangregorio (pictured left) to assess gait and risks of falls in the elderly living in long-term care.  Throughout the Fellowship, Jenna acquired and mastered a number of skills, including the collection and analysis of quantitative data.

“As the recipient of a Hallman Undergraduate Research Fellowship, I gained research knowledge and experience that cannot be taught or experienced in the classroom," explains Jenna. "This opportunity provided a sound foundation for my graduate school experience and allowed me to develop ideas for my independent study research and thesis.”
