Third-year, Recreation and Leisure Studies, Co-op

I chose this program because it allowed me to either focus in on a key area of recreation jobs or stay general and find new interests. It also provides me with the opportunity to try out different avenues in this field through the co-op program. Through participating in open houses as a high school student, current Applied Health Sciences students made me feel welcomed into the faculty before I had officially started.

Second-year, Therapeutic Recreation, Co-op

I chose this program because it allowed me to study everything about recreation and leisure before declaring my major. I got to learn a lot about different things and now I know what field I want to pursue. I love working with children and advocating for them. I believe this program will allow me to continue what I enjoy!

Third-year, Tourism Development, Co-op

I chose Tourism Development because of its unique co-op experience and my deep interest in how the tourism industry effects the different sectors of the community (such as fashion, restaurants, railways, etc.). My program touches base on a variety of relevant topics, providing me the opportunity to find the answers to the questions I had regarding how the tourism industry effects the community, as well as figure out what I want to pursue as a living in the future.

Third-year, Therapeutic Recreation

I chose Therapeutic Recreation because it's a meaningful way for me to help others increase their quality of life through leisure. I considered both Waterloo and Brock when deciding where to take Therapeutic Recreation, but in the end I decided Waterloo's program was a better fit for me!

Third-year, Recreation and Sport Business

I chose my program because I'm passionate about sports and have an interest in business, and this program allowed me to bring the two together. I chose Waterloo over other universities because I fell in love with the atmosphere of the campus and the city and felt it was a perfect fit for me.

Third-year, Therapeutic Recreation, Co-op

When I was deciding on programs I spent forever looking at different schools. I considered other programs such as Adult Development or Kinesiology. While attending the University of Waterloo's March Break Open House, I spoke to several Applied Health Sciences ambassadors that were in Therapeutic Recreation. They made me feel very comfortable when asking questions, which ultimately helped me make my decision.

Second-year, Recreation and Sport Business, Co-op

I chose this program because there is no other program like this at any other university. I have a passion for sports but I also enjoy the business areas of sports and this program allows me to study both.

Third-year, Therapeutic Recreation, Co-op

I choose Waterloo Therapeutic Recreation because I knew I wanted to help people coming into university but I didn’t know exactly in what capacity. Coming into first year in general Recreation and Leisure studies allowed me to try a little bit of each Recreation program and choose what I liked best: Therapeutic Recreation!
