Using Green's Functions for Nanoscience Applications
Nanoscience is one of the most promising areas of science right now for research, and its confluence of various fields of science also makes it very open to new mathematical approaches. In this seminar we investigate the role Green’s functions can play in understanding the electromagnetic properties of these small-scale systems. This will also help us develop improved models for nano-systems as well as more efficient numerical algorithms in those models. We illustrate what the ramifications of this mathematical tool (e.g. asymptotics, singularities, symmetries) signify in a physical context. These results will be presented on the backdrop of current research by various groups, highlighting its uses in graphene, nanofilm and biosensing applications.
