Title

An introduction to port-Hamiltonian systems

Abstract

The state of a physical dynamical system is a set of variables that fully describe the system and its response to an input, when the initial conditions are known. There are many sets of state variables that can represent the system, as long as it captures the total characteristics of said system. Some choices of state variables may be more useful than others, for intended purposes. For physical systems one can choose the set of state variables that coincide with the energy variables of the system. This allows it to be written in a port Hamiltonian form.

In this talk an introduction to modelling of port Hamiltonian systems for lumped states is presented.
