Architectural Engineering combines architectural design with building engineering, to produce an engineer with the ability to picture the whole scope of building design, construction, assessment and refurbishment. This studio-based program will provide you with the technical knowledge and communication skills needed for leadership in the building industry.
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, in collaboration with the Waterloo School of Architecture, is proud to offer a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree program in Architectural Engineering. Architectural Engineering undergraduate students will graduate with valuable job experience in a growing industry, accompanied by a degree from Canada’s #1 engineering school (US News & World Report 2016).
Like all Waterloo Engineering undergraduate programs, Architectural Engineering is a direct-entry program offering specialized curriculum from day one. This program will have a compulsory co-op component, with 100% of students starting co-op in first year. These students will have a unique co-op schedule, allowing them to start their hands on learning in January of their first year, alternating between co-op work and study terms through the duration of their studies.
