Man is a social animal. He needs community for support and for the success of his life. Yet, throughout history, man has withdrawn from community to retreat into the wilderness. The journey takes him from the world, into solitude, and then back to the world again with the fruits of his experience.

We are pleased to welcome Jane Hutton who is joining the School this month as a full-time faculty member.
Jane is coming from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where she has been working as Assistant Professor in the department of Landscape Architecture since 2011. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Biology and Environmental Science) from McGill University, and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Toronto. She is a landscape architect and an accomplished scholar, with numerous publications, conferences, exhibitions and exhibition curations.

Paolo Desideri is one of Italy’s most outstanding contemporary architects. He is one of the founding Principals in the firm ABDR Architteti in Rome and has been responsible for the design of projects of all scales and types ranging from private residences to major cultural institutions and, most importantly, projects for transportation.
