BWR is a festival of exhibitions and related events exploring and celebrating the past, present and future of progressive architecture and design excellence in Waterloo Region.
Second Skin: Painting Architecture draws on MArch candidate Stephanie Boutari's current thesis work-in-progress: a creative and conceptual inquiry into the role of surface or skin in architectural theory and practice. The exhibition combines her research with a series of paintings and large-scale murals.
Of the thesis entitled: Bush Garden
To garden is to draw with the land.
This tending is the primary act of culture: to perpetuate a people by negotiating with a place. Gardening impresses hope upon the land, measuring the bounds of sustenance.
