The Design Build Research Colloquium is focused on discussion of Anishinaabe material and cultural traditions with a particular focus on the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation (MNCFN). The colloquium is organized by the Waterloo Architecture Design Build program (WADB) as part of the collaborative project between the MNCFN and WADB for the creation of a new pow wow arbor in a sacred grove at the heart of the community. The colloquium is open to all members of the University of Waterloo School of Architecture community as well as a wider public audience.
The colloquium will feature talks by MNCFN community elders as well as Waterloo Architecture graduate students researching Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee material and cultural traditions and grid shell structures that are used for the MNCFN pow wow arbor.
