Lunchtime Conversation Series: Design Studio

Thursday, March 22, 2018 12:30 pm - 12:30 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

In conjunction with Waterloo Architecture’s 50th Anniversary lecture series and exhibition, several student initiatives will be hosting a lunchtime conversation series at the Design at Riverside gallery. Following the theme of Questioning the Canon, this conversation series invites alumni and guests to address the overarching question: In a world of unprecedented possibilities and unforeseen brutalities what can architectural education do?

On March 22 alumnus Aidan Mitchelmore will be in conversation with BRIDGE on design studio.
The event will be held at Design at Riverside gallery beginning at 12:30pm. Coffee and snacks will be available.

Aidan Mitchelmore
Aidan Mitchelmore recently graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Architecture. Throughout his two years spent in Waterloo's M.Arch program, Aidan was interested in using physical models as tools for design, rather than solely for representation purposes. Through the process of designing a speculative proposition for a new public (and counterpublic) space within Toronto's Union Station, Aidan has developed an interest in large public and cultural buildings as well as architectural sites located in urban networks. With previous work experience in Australia and the U.K., he is now working in Toronto as an Intern Architect pursuing his architecture licence. Currently, he plans to gain experience designing buildings with an urban, public, and social focus while practicing at architectural design offices.
