Researchers at the University of Waterloo in Canada have made a breakthrough in artificial intelligence(AI). New machine learning algorithms, along with compact computer chips small enough to fit on a mobile phone, have allowed for an AI to run independent of the Internet.
Canada's University of Waterloo has revealed plans to bring its research prowess to Hong Kong, with a focus on artificial intelligence. The university has signed an agreement with HKUST to develop teaching, research and experiential exchanges and is in discussions with industry and government representatives covering its operational AI concept Waterloo.ai Alpha.
At the University of Waterloo, research is being done into the use of wireless systems, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to recognize gestures and ultimately simplify the control of various machinery and equipment.
