Your rights and responsibilities

Academic Integrity

Academic expectations at university can be complex and different than what you’ve experienced so far. Your professors will help you understand what plagiarism is, how to cite the ideas of others, and how to work effectively independently and in groups. Ultimately, however, it is up to you to know what is expected, what integrity means and why it's important at the University of Waterloo.

It’s important you know the rules and guidelines that govern the University. We’d like you to read Policies 19, 70, 71, and 72. They impact you the most.
