iStudiez Lite

iStudiez Lite allows student and staff to keep track of assignments, tests, homework, grades, classes and instructors – all in one place! This version is free and limits the user to: 1 semester, 3 courses, 5 classes per course, 7 assignments, 5 instructors, and 2 holiday periods. The full version of the app, iStudiez Pro has no limits on the number of courses, classes, or assignments, etc. and costs $2.99.

myHomework

myHomework allows students to organize their classes, assignments, tests, homework, grades, and instructors. This version is free, has no limits on the number of classes or assignments, etc. but has some adds. The app can connect to the myhomeworkapp.com website for $1.99 per year. This subscription allows you to sync your information with all of your devices.

Note Taking:

Note Anytime

The Note Anytime app allows you to write and organize all of your notes into notebooks. The use of a stylus is recommended. This app allows you to select pen thickness, transparency, and colour, has numerous layout and background designs, and can record your text as handwriting or convert it to keyboard text. With this app, you can add photos, existing documents, or webpages to your working document. When the document is finished, it is saved as a Note Anytime document, PDF, or image and can be shared via email, published on Twitter, Tumblr and soon to be Facebook. This app is completely free, but more advanced options can be purchased through the in-App store.

FreeNote, Note Everything

FreeNote, note everything is a note taking app in which you can combine handwriting and keyboard text in the same document, insert drawings, voice recordings, photo and videos, and has a calendar, alarms and to-do lists. When the document is finished, it can be exported to a PDF. FreeNote+, note everything costs $5.99 and has all of the same features, without the ‘donate’ button.

File Organization:

Evernote   

Evernote is an organization tool that automatically syncs your documents to all of your devices. You can type or record voice notes, capture photo and video, and organize it all within labeled notebooks. You can easily search through all your files, and Evernote even searches for text in photos! The free version allows up to 60 MB of uploads per month. Evernote Premium is available for $5/month or $45/year. The premium version allows you to take your notebooks offline, and add a lock to your Evernote app, hide promotions, and more.

CamScanner  

CamScanner is a free app for both Apple and Android that converts photos of documents to PDFs that can be edited, emailed and organized. It’s great for keeping track of class notes and can connect with a number of different applications including Evernote and Google Drive.

Pass the Exam!! 

Pass the Exam!! is an app that allows you to multi-media flash cards to study for exams. The app allows you to share flash cards with friends, so if you have a class with somone, you can learn off eachother’s flashcards. The program determines your weaknesses based on wrong answers, and reorders the flash cards to help improove learning. Finally, it produces mock exams to help simulate the conditions in which you will be tested to ensure a passing grade. This app is free, and can be used online.

Trello  

Trello is a project management app that helps you easily organize large projects in a very visual way. You can create checklists, upload files and photos, and colour coordinate the information to ensure you don’t forget about the most important tasks. You can add groups to projects, collaborate through the chat window, and assign tasks. Trello also helps you keep track of who is doing what, so you know nothing will be left unfinished.

Evernote Peek  

Evernote Peek is a unique study tool that quizzes you using the Smart Cover on iPads. Don’t have a Smart Cover? Evernote developed a virtual one for you. Evernote Peek creates study materials from your notebooks in Evernote. All you have to do is add a notebook from Evernote, close the Smart Cover, open the first bar for a clue, and pull back the whole cover to reveal the answer.
