Adobe Acrobat Pro DC licensing changes

What is happening? The Adobe Acrobat Pro DC licensing model has changed to a subscription-based model.

What is the impact? For new purchases of Acrobat Pro DC, departments/units will now have to purchase a subscription for Acrobat Pro DC directly from the Adobe online store or the re-seller, Softchoice. 

Note: As of November 14, 2019, IST has a small number of perpetual licenses available through the IST Webstore. There will be no more of these licenses once gone.

[Isthd] Technical changes to WatIAM to support Improving Student Name Usage project – Dec 16-20

What is happening? To support the “Improving Student Name Usage” project, changes are being implemented to WatIAM so that a student or employee’s preferred/chosen first name will appear as their first name in WatIAM, and in systems that receive name information from WatIAM. (Note: systems that receive name information from Quest will not be impacted with this implementation.)

[Isthd] Changes to Email Provisioning in Connect - December 16

What is happening? Some changes to how email accounts are provisioned in Connect are being implemented:

  • All users will be able to change their mail delivery address if the field in WatIAM is blank. 
  • If the mail delivery address contains any value (@edu.uwaterloo.ca, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.), the field will not be updated automatically.

[Isthd] Discontinuing use of @edu.uwaterloo.ca email domain – April 2020

Why is this happening? The recommendation to move students and employees to a single email domain (i.e. userid@uwaterloo.ca) was an outcome of a review of the current email environment that was conducted as part of the project to investigate moving Waterloo employee email to the Office 365 cloud environment.

  

What is the impact? All Waterloo students and employees will use the @uwaterloo.ca email domain.

What are the benefits? A common email domain will allow for:
