As people moved to working remotley, the use of technology has become necessary. Many people have to download various programs and applications to assist them while working remotely, which may not come easy for some. That’s where Arts Computing Office (ACO) steps in. We have been working with the Arts community at Waterloo by providing technical support, creating installation user guides, loaning laptops, and more!
Students and professors have been in touch with Arts Computing Office through our LiveChat agent or by emailing email@example.com. Veronica Kitchen, a Political Science Professor at Waterloo was very pleased with ACO’s laptop loaner program as it was an alternate option for a student in need of a temporary laptop “The loaner laptop is essential to making sure that students can equitably access resources during a remote term. With all Arts classes being taught remotely, ACO is providing a way to get students equipment quickly and inexpensively so that they can continue their coursework in case of a failure of their technology. That removes one level of stress during a very stressful semester.”
Ian Milligan, a History Professor at Waterloo has always been happy with the support ACO provides “if my students have ever needed anything in pre-pandemic days, from a mouse, to a replacement keyboard in one case, to power chargers that they forgot at home, it’s been amazing how those surprisingly stressful moments can be alleviated by ACO. In my own teaching, I know ACO has set up servers with boutique software, which really reduced stress in the classroom”. Milligan also recommended to Professor Kitchen that ACO is the best place for the Arts community to get computing help.
