Dean's welcome

Doug PeersWelcome to Arts at Waterloo.

First, I’d like to acknowledge that the Faculty of Arts, University of Waterloo, is located on the traditional territory of ‎ the Neutral, Anishnawbe, and Haudenosaunee peoples. We in the Faculty are committed as scholars and citizens to move forward together for reconciliation amongst Indigenous peoples and all Canadians.

The Faculty of Arts is a place where students and scholars have the richest opportunities to advance knowledge, develop creativity, and discover solutions that address pressing questions of the past, present, and future.

We have a long history of putting ideas into action through co-op and other experience-based opportunities that build on our outstanding range of undergraduate and graduate programs.

Our scholarship and teaching is increasingly engaged with local, national, and global networks and priorities, dedicated to advancing the best of liberal arts scholarship and responsiveness to societal needs.

Now in the midst of our 2014-19 Strategic Plan, we are indeed building on our strengths while firmly aligning the Faculty of Arts with the objectives of the University as a whole.

We are Waterloo Arts – an engaged Faculty for interesting times. Come and check us out.

With best wishes,
