Join the Department of Religious Studies and Renison University College for a delightfully dark discussion of the religious imagination of one of the best selling horror writers  of our time. Professor Douglas E. Cowan's new book is described as an "incisive, accessible work . . . Cowan’s insightful exploration of the religious questions raised by King provides a fresh way for viewing the religious dimensions of popular culture."

Considering works such as CarrieThe Dead ZoneMiseryThe Shining, and many more, Professor Cowan explores the religious imagery, themes, characters, and, most importantly, questions that haunt Stephen King’s horror stories. Religion and its trappings are found throughout King’s fiction, but what Cowan reveals is a writer sceptical of the certainty of religious belief.

The book launch event includes a draw for a signed copy of Professor Cowan's new book.
