Monday, April 4, 2016 — 1:30 PM EDT

The Centre for Mental Health Research (CMHR) welcomes the University community to the official launch of the Operational Stress Injury (OSI) service.<--break->

The OSI is offered in partnership with St. Joseph’s Health Care London’s Parkwood Institute. Waterloo’s CMHRrecently began providing specialized mental health services for veterans, members of the Canadian Forces, and eligible members of the RCMP who have experienced service-related psychological injury, and this new initiative will enhance research and training opportunities for Waterloo students and Clinical Psychology residents, while strengthening the CMHR’s dedicating to providing accessible, empirically-supported psychological services to valued members of the community.

Speaking at the event will be Doug Peers, Dean of Arts, David Moscovitch, Executive Director of the CMHR, St. Joseph’s director of veterans care, and a veteran with PTSD who has benefited from access to psychological services at Parkwood Institute’s OSIC. Dr. Cyd Courchesne, national medical officer in the Department of Veterans Affairs, will deliver a short keynote.
