International Day for the Elimination of Racism: Prof. Jim Walker on Rocky Jones

Waterloo Region Congress of Black Women invite the community to an evening with Professor Jim Walker, acclaimed author Lawrence Hill, and Wilfrid Laurier University Professor Carol Duncan to mark International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination with a discussion of Prof. Walker's book, Burnley "Rocky" Jones: Revolutionary, and human rights and race relations in Canada.

Jim Walker is a member of the Order of Canada, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and has been honoured by the Ontario Black History Society as a pioneer in researching and teaching African-Canadian History.

Burnley "Rocky" Jones was an African-Nova Scotian and an internationally known political activist in the areas of human rights, race and poverty. "Rocky" gained prominence as a member of the Students Union for Peace Action (SUPA) and as a lawyer.

Special guest Lawrence Hill, author of The Illegal and The Book of Negroes, will introduce Prof. Walker and join the panel discussion on race in Canada.

Wordsworth Books will be at the event to sell copies of Burnley "Rocky" Jones: Revolutionary.
