Pack Green: Arts waste-free picnic lunchExport this event to calendar

Thursday, August 18, 2016 — 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM EDT

Arts green office team logoEveryone (staff, students, faculty) is invited to join the Arts Green Office Team in creating a sustainable future by participating in our waste-free picnic lunch in the beautiful Arts-Environment Garden. Let's make an impact on waste reduction!

What is a waste-free lunch?

A waste-free lunch contains no disposable or throwaway packaging. Drinks and food are packed in reusable, washable containers. Washable cutlery and cloth napkins are used, and all items should be packed within a reusable lunch bag or box.  All containers are re-sealable so that leftover food and drink can be consumed (or composted) later.

We look forward to your support and hope you will consider packing waste-free lunches on a regular basis!

Interesting Facts:  Did you know that across Canada it costs more than $1.5 BILLION per year to dispose of garbage? Not to mention, within a lifetime, the average person will throw away 600 times his or her adult weight in garbage. This means a 150 pound adult will leave a legacy of 90,000 pounds of trash. -- Sources: Natural Resources Canada and Destination Conservation
