We understand that applicants to graduate programs are eager to receive an admission decision. Our goal is to issue a decision within approximately 8 - 10 weeks of the admit term’s application deadline. Please note the time required for us to complete our review process and make decisions may vary depending on the program or the amount of applications received by each department. We ask that you defer from contacting the department for an update on your application status until at least 10 weeks after the application deadline.
When in Quest, applicants can select the Documents tab to ensure all required application materials have been submitted correctly. If an application is complete, the application status will be listed as “Application,” which indicates it is in the process of being reviewed.
Once an admission decision has been made, graduate student applicants will receive an email to the account they provided in their application. This email will contain information related to the admission decision. Successful applicants will receive an electronic offer of admission letter. Applicants are able to review, make a decision and print the admission letter using Quest. A paper offer of admission will not be sent. Visit the Quest Graduate Applicants page for links to some helpful step-by-step instructions on how to navigate Quest.
Applications received for Fall admission to graduate studies should be reviewed, and final decisions from departments should be made by April 30th, with the exception of the Master of Digital Experience Innovation program and the Master of Taxation program, which should have made their final decisions by May 31st.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
