New chairs in Scientific and Technological Literacy

Professors Carla Fehr and Heather Douglas join Dept of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy is delighted to announce the appointment of two Chairs in Scientific and Technological Literacy at the University of Waterloo.

Professor Carla Fehr joined the University in July as the Wolfe Chair in Science and Technology Studies, while Professor Heather Douglas will arrive in January 2012 as the Waterloo Chair in Science and Society.

A recent graduate from the School of Accounting and Finance (SAF) has won the national and provincial gold medals for the Chartered Accountancy Uniform Final Examination (UFE), described as one of the most challenging professional examinations in the world.

Research Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program combines creative exploration with entrepreneurship

The Research Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (REAP), is a unique extracurricular program based in the Faculty of Arts, University of Waterloo. Students are paid on a part time basis to think creatively and explore new and existing digital display technologies. Thier goal is to develop new interactive experiences for users -- and then take the applications to market.

Political Science organizes student Fed-Prov simulation

Waterloo hosts longest-running student federal-provincial conference

Several hundred high school students in Waterloo Region will participate in Canada's longest-running simulated federal-provincial conference at the University of Waterloo next Tuesday (Dec. 7) and Wednesday (Dec. 8). This annual event, organized by Waterloo's political science department and the regional history heads association, has been held at the university for 46 years.
