Conference hosted by English explores the economization of everything

The Department of English Language and Literature is playing host to a major interdisciplinary conference this weekend - the Canadian Association of American Studies (CAAS) annual gathering, Total Money Makeover: Culture and the Economization of Everything, will explore the meaning of money in literature, society, and culture.

Classical Studies celebrates new book: Belonging and Isolation in the Hellenistic World

When professors Sheila Ager and Riemer Faber convened the first international conference under the Waterloo Institute for Hellenistic Studies in 2008, they may not have anticipated the outcome. But the conference called ‘Belonging and Isolation in the Hellenistic World’ has materialized five years later in a University of Toronto Press publication of the same name.

Short story writer Alice Munro becomes first Canadian to win Nobel Prize for literature. "She is the recognized international master of the short story."
