Dona Massel’s play, “On the Inside,” follows the story of a boy, his teacher, and the first hanging in what was then the city of Berlin. The action takes place in the Governor’s House on Queen Street. When a young inmate is sentenced to hang, Olive, the Governor’s wife, reaches out to him and both their lives are changed.
Dona, a 1991 English graduate from the University of Waterloo, is a regionally renowned playwright and poet. “On the Inside” begins March 14 at the Registry Theatre in Kitchener. The play is being put on by The Lost and Found Theatre.
The Lost and Found Theatre works to promote the work of local playwrights. They’re recently begun a program geared towards students in grades 11 and 12, called the Youth Ensemble Theatre. The goal of this youth group is two give younger students the access to the Lost and Found Theatres resources, as well as teach them about all the behind-the-scenes aspects of stage productions.
The Registry Theatre is located at 122 Frederick St, Kitchener, ON.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Indigenous Initiatives Office.
