Born and raised in Kitchener, Brian finished his BA Honours Economics in 2007, and began his career with the Bank of Canada as a Research Assistant. Working with the research team in the International Department, he contributed to leading-edge economic research. Brian returned to school in 2009, completing his MA in Economics from the University of British Columbia (now the Vancouver School of Economics) in the Spring of 2010. Returning to the Bank of Canada as an Economist (later Senior Analyst) in the Advanced Economies team in the International Department, his work focused on monetary policy in the euro area and Japan during the global financial crisis.

In the summer of 2014, Brian joined TD Economics, where he works as a Senior Economist, focused on the outlook for the Canadian economy, monetary and fiscal policy, and the key economic issues facing Canadians. His analysis and commentary has been featured in the Globe and Mail, Wall Street Journal, CBC, Financial Post, and others.
