Meaghan Huras

BA '07, Speech Communication and French

Meaghan Huras.Since graduating from the Arts Faculty in 2007 with an Honours degree in Speech Communication and minor in French, Meaghan has held several roles within Manulife Financial, her current employer. In a recent role as a Relationship Management Consultant to Manulife advisors, Meaghan was continuously provided with challenging opportunities to enrich her communication and problem-solving skills in a business environment. This job also allowed her to travel across Canada to meet with our advisors, utilizing her French degree.

Last year Meaghan stepped into a new role as a Communications Consultant for a recently restructured Operations arm of the company. This has allowed her to build the role from the ground up, collaborating with other communication areas to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to Manulife’s external communications and practices.

Manulife also awards many volunteer opportunities within the community, such as the inaugural LPGA event in Waterloo this past summer, and through their renowned United Way campaign for which she managed the advisor communication’s arm, to name a few. Outside of Manulife she has been involved in volunteer opportunities over the past 5 years with K-W Oktoberfest, namely the Miss Oktoberfest Gala Ball which is a large social event each year to crown Miss Oktoberfest and kick-off the festival.

She is continually seeking ways to continue her education, including completing a training course at Humber College, enrolling in French courses at Conestoga College, and most recently achieving her provincial life insurance license.

Whether it’s through her employer or otherwise, Meaghan is always looking for ways to stay involved in the community and put her skills to work!

Meaghan is currently living in Waterloo with her husband and 10-month old baby boy. Her spare-time activities usually involve food, whether cooking or eating, and her love of photography -- something that she’d like to learn more about and spend more time focusing on!
